The art of the bug

I drew bug on the sand at Tenby beach in Wales.

We took a few days off to go to Wales this week and the only thing I can think of to draw in the sand is our friend, Bug.

For those who are less aware, Bug is our new mascot from the MoTaverse. They appear in virtually every image of ours. Sometimes you have to look hard to find them.

I've held onto the term 'creativity replaces anxiety' as I was navigating a particularly difficult time last year. The simple act of doing some painting and creating my first (rainbow!) scarf really seemed to help take the edge off things.

I finished making a scarf in my favourite colour combo πŸ˜ƒ

I made map inspired art of where I live.

I've been thinking of what art projects to do next. I'll definitely be making some scarves for my girls. Hopefully, we can make them before the warm weather comes back!

I often get stuck with not knowing what to make, but Bug brings me so much joy these days, that I feel like this could be a nice focus for some art experiments. I'm conscious that this makes any creative art projects with Bug somewhat work related, but it is also a way to explore ideas and justify funding creative projects through the business. 😜

I will then have a ready made audience who may appreciate being gifted Bug art or perhaps I can have a kit ready for our next conference craft table (πŸ‘ˆ it was so good!)

Eamon made a Bug Rug, which left me inspired, full of fomo and wanting to create something similar.

Via Eamon in the MoTaverse.

He now has it framed and up on a wall.

Since then, I've discovered punch needle, which has similar vibes to making a rug. So I may give that a try!

That is all.

Just a few words to help me commit to spending time doing creative things. I'm not really good at taking time off, and I partly realise that perhaps I need to take creative projects with me when I go away.

PS. To get better at writing here, I had the idea of using a photo from my camera roll as a prompt. It worked a treat. Try it!
