Micro holidays
We took a few days off last week, we went to Devon. a long afternoon and evening on the beach was great.

But I always love coming home, and when I do, I appreciate all the things about where we live.
When people speak about taking time off, it always seems to be about resting and going away somewhere. But all aspects of this do not align with me. Organising going away is to overwhelming. And my happy place is exploring whatever is on my mind. I guess this is me me accepting that my brain doesn’t switch off. Forcing it to, doesn’t help me. Forcing me to rest doesn’t either. Finding moments of joy and happiness does.
For me, I’ve been falling in love with the idea of micro holiday moments. And for me, where we live by the sea, this becomes easy to make happen.
At the moment it means making time, half a day or a day week to go and do a holiday like activites. Typically during the week when places tend to be quieter. people avoidance is always big on my list. For me, taking that moment to treat it like a holiday and to appreciate the smaller things in life is enough to give me a reset.
Today I was at a park and then the beach. This is nice and good enough. Then back to work.
