Appreciating experience

I tweeted this a while back and I often think about it.

The more I write or create, the more people want me, or my skills for what I write. It's almost like they see me as a marketer or writer. Yet it is far from the truth.

The fact is that I can write because I have experience. The writing I create therefore has insights and depth that many would find hard to match.

When people can write well it is because they have the experience and their roles should match that. Honestly, the internet suffers from so much bad content. We need more experienced people writing good stuff.

And if you're going to hire them, hire them for their experience, not their ability to write.

Or maybe it's because I'm a woman, there is that too.
