Paul Young, Director of Off The Fence contacted me asking for help. It's freezing out there at the moment and local people need help.
I donated £10 - would you donate something too?
As part of the Brighton Digital Festival we held a Christmas Charity Geek Dinner where £828.78 was raised for The Chestnut Treehouse. More details can be found on the Brighton Girl Geek Dinner website.
The Brighton Girl Geek Dinners has been a great experience and over the past year a small community has grown. After several requests I feel it is important to trial out an online community that will hopefully fill the gap of knowing what girl geeks (& supporters) are out there and perhaps get to know each other that little bit better.
The idea is to keep the Brighton Girl Geek Dinners, but have the Brighton Girl Geeks as an additional way to communicate, socialise and perhaps organise less formal events.
I encourage you to visit and sign up here - http://girlgeeks.projectbrighton.com/
As always, feedback appreciated.
The poll is now open for everyone to vote for their preferred charity for proceeds of the Charity Geek Dinner to go to.
There are still tickets and sponsorship packages available for the event.
If you haven't purchased your ticket for the Charity Christmas Geek Dinner you may want to get your li'l booty moving. You can choose between the following tickets:
A standard ticket covers the cost of food and drink - no profit being made from this side of things. All the profit will come from sponsors - so it is essential we get sponsors on board to make a profit to donate to a charity.
We encourage you all to take part. We promise a fun night, with a great speaker, good food and a li'l xmas spark for you all.
ThoughtWorks are providing an opportunity that most companies wouldn't, and it's free. woot!
If you are a woooo-man, technically minded and looking to get back into IT (work) then I recommend you check out their Back to IT Training offering.
Simon Harriyott and I are organising a Christmas Charity Geek Dinner. We hope to raise loadsa cash for a charity.
We would really like the community to nominate and decide where the money should go. If you think a charity needs a boost please let me know by leaving a comment or dropping me an email at rosiesherry@gmail.com
We will be setting up a poll in the near future for all the nominations.
Thanks.
What? Christmas already?
It's been a bit quiet on the Girl Geek Dinner front, but there is good reason for that. We are currently working on a very special bigger event.
Stay tuned.
The results are in for The Girl Geek Logo and Slogan competetion and we are happy to announce the winners:
Strap line winner: "Definitely does compute"
by Eleanor Martin
Logo winner: Cole Henley

Two pairs of dconstruct tickets on their way!
Please get in touch if there are any fab web designers out there who would like to volunteer their skills to help put together the new website :)
